Wedding invitation are traditionally sent to your guests approximately 3-4 months prior to the wedding date.

However, if you are super organised, and are considering annual holidays, people travelling from abroad etc...
invitations can be sent our much sooner.

If you want to avoid sending your invitations out too early, Save the Date cards can be an option.
Save the Date Cards include date, ceremony location (if known) and that a formal invitation will follow.
NAMES
Names of the bride's parents or other hosts.
BRIDE
First or full name of the Bride.
Traditionally the Bride is listed before the Groom, however some religions weddings require the opposite.
GROOM
First or full name of the Groom.
CHURCH
Where the ceremony is taking place.
DATE
Date, month and year of the wedding ceremony.
TIME
Time of ceremony.
RECEPTION
Where the wedding reception is taking place.
RSVP
Address and date to which guests must reply.
Having a 'reply date' can help significantly with your preparations - when guests don't reply the date gives a good excuse for a gentle 'nudge'.
